Well, it has been a rough few weeks for Lacey and us. As I stated in an earlier post the pregnancy just didn’t seem to be progressing the way that they normally do. About 2 1/2 weeks ago Lacey started to have some weird symptoms/discharge that we have not experienced before. Turns out that the pregnancy never did fully take and was potentially going to cause some serious damage to Lacey’s uterus if we let things progress much further. So, to avoid serious health issues and the possibility of having to spay her if things got too bad we decided it would be best to terminate the pregnancy.
Upon further testing at the vets office (we never did have the ultrasound done because their machine was broken during her last visit) it was determined that the pregnancy never took at all! It was what is referred to as sudo-pregnancy or phantom pregnancy. Her body acted as though she was pregnant and was preparing itself to whelp puppies. This along with the uterine issues was very deceiving. Once this was determined it was much easier to make the decisions on treatment and after a weeks worth of antibiotic she is fine and did not require the spay.
I am very sorry that many of you had your hopes up for puppies this week and now that will not be happening. We were just as excited because it can be so much fun and Lacey is such a great mother. Thank you for your inquiries and for the kind words about the dogs and the website and I hope that everyone is able to find a puppy in the very near future. If anyone is interested in different reputable breeders that may have some litters coming up please do not hesitate to email me or fill out the contact form. I know it can be very difficult to find a good breeder that you are comfortable with and I would love to help with that if you would like me to.
Sincerely,
Matt Maloney

Thank you for the update. All that matters is that she is well.
